5 Minutes With Elly From Native Chiropractic

Tell us a little about yourself.

I am a family wellness chiropractor and owner of Native Chiropractic in Sumner. My whole life is centred around living well naturally. Health for me is everything, it’s our quality of life, our relationship to our environment, the strength of our relationships, how we are continually growing and discovering ourselves. When I am not at Native, you will always find me outside, pottering in the garden, walking the dog, adventuring in the mountains, nose in a bee hive or creating nourishing food.

What is your earliest memory of trying tea?

When travelling in my early 20s, I found myself working at some beautiful cafes all around the world with incredible tea collections. I had never been a tea drinker but I loved the smell and the ritual of serving tea, it wasn’t too long before I was a raving fan!

What does ritual and ceremony mean to you, which ones are most important and impactful in your life?

I think it’s so vital to have moments for yourself, to bring forward what it important. Ritual doesn’t need to be a lot of effort or energy, but creating a small amount of space for something you love. I find so much joy in the small things in life, my morning coffee with the sunrise just me centering for my day, feeding the chickens with the morning air or carving the time on a Sunday afternoon to prepare our basics for the week, sourdough, muesli and kombucha all while sipping a tea.

Tell us how your experience with Mikaku Tea has been?

I was introduced to Leeya and Mikaku through a lovely friend and I am so grateful we crossed paths. Having access to Mikaku for my self but also for our Native community has been such a blessing. I am always excited to see what we will be brewing each day and the fact its all locally grown and created with so much intention really shines through. We are even lucky enough to have our own custom rest & digest blend to help support our practice members nervous systems prior to their family adjustments.

For many, the last few years have been a roller-coaster ride of ups and downs, what are you most grateful for?

I am seeing everyday our community taking ownership over their health and their life. There is so much happening in our world that we cannot control so seeing our people empowered in their health and their life is everything!
